{"id":320,"date":"2020-11-23T12:20:58","date_gmt":"2020-11-23T11:20:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dr-idelmann.com\/en\/?p=320"},"modified":"2020-11-23T12:23:45","modified_gmt":"2020-11-23T11:23:45","slug":"wave-of-bank-mergers-in-spain-continues-bbva-and-banco-sabadell-plan-merger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dr-idelmann.com\/en\/wave-of-bank-mergers-in-spain-continues-bbva-and-banco-sabadell-plan-merger\/","title":{"rendered":"Wave of bank mergers in Spain continues &#8211; BBVA and Banco Sabadell plan merger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the Spanish and international press has reported in recent days, the <strong>BBVA<\/strong> and <strong>Banco Sabadell<\/strong> are planning a merger.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to this, the Spanish bank supervisory authority (<strong>Comisi\u00f3n Nacional del Mercado de Valores<\/strong>\/ <strong>CNMV<\/strong>) had issued a mandatory announcement about the merger project of the two banks.<\/p>\n<p>The merger between BBVA and Sabadell would create a bank with a balance sheet total of around 600 billion euros in Spain alone.<\/p>\n<p>If the international assets of BBVA are added, the new bank would have a balance sheet total of almost 1,000 billion euros.<\/p>\n<p>BBVA is by far the larger partner of the two banks. <\/p>\n<p>BBVA operates as a global wholesale bank with a strong presence in Latin America, notably in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Sabadell is a regional player with a focus on Catalonia.
